Great article on Mr Anderson
Interesting stats and a great article from Football 365 on Felipe and how he turned the Palace full back Wan-Bissaka inside out where others have failed and this quote sums him up

He is the anti-stereotype: a uniquely skilful South American with steel to match. In fact, he has already made more tackles in the Premier League this season (39) than Payet managed in his entire West Ham spell (33).

Would love to see the tackles that make up that stat as whenever ive seen him this season id say 80% of tackles he could go in for or ends up in he bottles and comes out worse off.....

Re: Great article on Mr Anderson
I'm all for praising Anderson when he does well, but this is a complete over-reading of a crazy small sample of stats. Nobody with eyes thinks Anderson's a tough tackler - his lack of defensive contribution has been a big problem for us. He is improving running with the ball I think, but noting a couple of runs in one match is meaningless.

Also a quick glance at the stats - Wan Bissaka had as many successful dribbles as Anderson in the match.

Re: Great article on Mr Anderson
I agree with Alex: Anderson is a mercurial player and his benefit to the team can only be judged over a whole season. Let's hope he doesn't get carried away about his recent success and fawning punditry: he should look at Spurs' Son for an example of a singer who combines natural talent and sheer hard work.

Re: Great article on Mr Anderson
That is attempted tackles which would include waving a foot at the ball.

And the other stat it doesn't show is he has given the ball away more than any other player in the Premier League this season (Paul Pogba is second in that list). This does mean he tries to make forward passes which is good. He was giving it away a lot though... this has now reduced so hopefully he's found his range.

Stats are stats are stats. And all they are there for are for people to reinforce an opinion either way.

Typical of Alex V to use them negatively against possibly our best player.

But I think it shows one thing. Anderson realises that a lot of what he does on the pitch revolves around defensive duties and being part of a defensive unit / shape.

But, let's be honest, any West ham fan prepared to criticise Anderson for, an apparent, lack of defensive ability needs to get a life and start enjoying what the bloke does offensively.

Re: Great article on Mr Anderson
he's only being negative because it's his warped way of defending masuaku, who he loves. zabaleta has a similar lack of protection but has had a good season

Re: Great article on Mr Anderson
Why are people so obsessed over how good at tackling our Brazilian attacker is?

He's producing at the other end of the pitch, which is what we spent the £40m on. Yeah he could chip in a bit more defensively, but I'd much rather the opposite be more worried about him going forward than anything else.

He's been superb of late, and I reckon he'll get even better.
